In Response To: Annual Abolish the last chance post (please, think of the children) (Matt Cohn-Geier)

We do not have a Last Chance.

We have a progressive Consolation after two losses.

Actually I think there is a difference between that and Last Chance. In our format only the winner and finalist stay out of the Consolation, so the Consolation bracket winner will win the 2nd largest prize amount, after the winner- the same amount as the finalist in the main bracket. And a decent chunk of the progressive Consolation is finished on Saturday.

We also are going to be very diligent about not allowing players still alive in the main event or the Friday jackpots and Doubles to sign up for other side events, in order to minimize delays.

Although not on the brochure, we have in the past, and will again, if demand is sufficient, organize jackpots on Sunday with various entry fees. These, in addition to the USBGF Blitz, Free Roll and DMP Quickies which are already on the schedule and will be in various stages of play on Sunday, should allow for plenty of action on Sunday for players knocked out of the main events.

The group rate deadline has passed but it is my understanding that if one goes to Mariott's main site and searches on the Washington Dulles Marriott Suites in Herndon, VA, favorable rates can be found that way.

The brochure is available at http://beltwaybg.org/capitalclassic/2015-02_CapitalClassic.pdf

There are those who think the venue is one of the nicest hotels on the ABT tour. Enjoy it while you can- we may very well outgrow it.

Your (and others') points about Last Chance are well-taken and I'm interested in maximizing attendance and will take all suggestions into consideration when planning future events.
