We just finished a triple elimination swiss, the so-called t-swiss format at the german masters in berlin. all matches were clocked, with the breaks implemented in the total bank time (1 break of 5 min per player fro matches to 9 and no break in matches to 7). we started friday 6.30 pm with one round to 9 before dinner break (1,5 hours break time) and one round to 9 after dinner. end of the playing day was around midnight. we continued on saturday 3 pm with 3rd round played to 9 (guaranteeing every player 3 matches to 9 before 12,5% field was out), and continued with all matches to 7 points, with a total of 6 rounds completed by saturday night, 1 am, including a dinner break of 1,5 hours. we started sunday at noon with 2 more rounds to 7 points to reach the final 4 players in the money at 3.30 pm. we started the last chance at 4 pm (5 points, clocked) and while the last chance finished at 9 pm, the 4 in the main round kept on playing to 9 points and finished at 8 pm. total of 12 rounds. each round of 9 points was scheduled to start every 2 hours, each round to 7 was scheduled to start every 1,5 hours. no waiting for the players, no delays and enough time for most to have breaks in between rounds. end of everything at 9.30 pm sunday. perfectly feasable with over 40 players.
