The way you made it sound in your first post and still not clear in your follow up is that there are positions, easy to play out (races, holding games, etc) or high volatile positions with lots of gammons where you would double even if it wasn't technically a double per XG. This is the way it came across to me and I'm guessing Casper and others. This is correct for match play where you have a certain number of points you're playing to but completely wrong and pissing away equity otherwise in money play.
