Exactly how I did? You check to see if they have anything to be thinking about. In this instance he did. Next you could check to see if that's how he normally acts when considering a cube. You could further generally check his speed of play. You could also check any other illegal moves that came up and how they were handled. There are other questions that should be answered in there too that are obvious such as who did the illegal play benefit if it was obvious. For example, if the illegal play obviously benefited the player who made the illegal play it's an easy conclusion to make that the opponent didn't realize an illegal play had been made. Is this a player above reproach, someone who for instance in the past without even playing illegal moves has corrected opponents in situations he didn't have to where their opponent would have otherwise cost themselves mass amounts of equity. (esp. if it was a more important match) Etc...
