I favor paying more places. At most events, there are hedges, meaning more players "cash" than are listed in the results. The method I use in Charlotte typically pays 20-25% of the Open field and 20-30% of the Advanced. Those percentages can be a bit higher with small fields. The lowest payouts don't return much more than your entry fee, so there is very little, if any, hedging. Since we don't know the amounts until we get to the money (after round 9 in Advance or round 10 in Open), it would be difficult to hedge, anyway. When players ask, I just explain that there really isn't enough money in the lowest positions to hedge a dollar amount. If anyone really wants to hedge, I suggest the loser gets a percentage of the winner.
