When I'm playing in a chouette and a position like this comes up, I try not to pause before doubling, because that can tip off the opponent to the possibility that it's too good, or more generally break the rhythm of play so that the opponent is more likely to stop and think.

In other words, skilful chouette play almost mandates that you not know whether this is too good because you need to train yourself to instinctively recognize that assessing whether or not this cube is too good is an irrelevant and possibly even detrimental task.
