There are many ways to do this, but the best way is when you have non-consulting chouettes.

Even in a consulting chouette, you could give the captain more time than the box to allow for all that conversation...or at least some of it. The penalty to run out of time could be 1 point per player, the clock gets 1 minute, and the game continues.

For my match with Mochy we are going to have an interesting clock that adds 3 seconds at the end of each move so you get more in the bank if the game is exceptionally long. This was Chris Yep's idea, and we like it.
