Z = bar/23 13/9 would be better if there were still 5 checkers on the midpoint. It dupes 4 nicely, and avoids coming under the gun.

U = bar/23 24/20 and V = bar/21 24/22 have the advantage of keeping 4 checkers on the midpoint. Neither one drops a blot in the outer board. V dupes 4. It also avoids putting a checker on the 20pt, the offensive point the opponent would like to make next. U fails on both these counts.

U does have the advantage of putting only 1 checker in harms way. That's because a blot on the 23pt is less likely to be attacked than one on the 22pt. U also starts the better anchor.

I like V. My second choice is U. Z is a more distant third.
