Let's let the clocks out

Why should any two players have to use a clock when they are known to not be slow players, and they profess to not enjoy using a clock (perhaps despite trying them a number of times)?
There are a few reasons why it is a good idea to use a clock even when both players would prefer not to.
1. It is best if everyone competes under the same rules and conditions. It is a purer form of competition. It's easier for TDs to enforce the rules. It's easier for players to remember the rules and abide by them if the rules don't change from match to match. ("Do we have to use a clock? I didn't use one in my last match.")
2. Clocks help keep the tournament running on schedule. Staff doesn't have to keep an eye on the match to see if it is running long.
3. Clocks and a single pair of dice have several mechanical advantages over unclocked play: (a) Tailgating is not a problem. (b) There is no disagreement about what the roll was. (c) There is no ambiguity about when the turn is over.
