Recording moves is just an analogy to Chess I gave. I don't think recording moves by hand should be a must in backgammon. But recording them, by camera, should be a must be any serious player for their own game development. It also helps to address illegal move claims.

The main thing that struck me when I played Novi 4 years ago and every year since was the lack of structure in the tournament.

-Boards aren't numbered(Hunting people down is a norm) in order to find people easily and where one should play. -Usage of clocks aren't common. -Postmortem of games is non-existent. -The tournament isn't a swiss format style. -Experts aren't on hand to ask for coaching or clarify a rule.

Having highlighted a few points above, I nevertheless have tremendous respect for people like Carol Joy Cole, who I think have the best of intentions and the right heart towards the game!
