BMAB Results from the Texan BG Championships, San Antonio
Four Grandmasters competed in the San Antonio tournament this year taking advantage of the excellent opportunity to extend their BMAB applications. MCG and Petko extended their experience to 150 EP making them eligible for Grandmaster (Class 2) titles which they were both awarded. Mochy and Michy, however, extended their experience to 200 EP making them eligible for Grandmaster (Class 1) titles which, again, they were both awarded.
Seven new players also started individual applications to BMAB with generally excellent results. Rory Pascar extended previous matches already submitted for the Mochy 4.0 Club; reaching the target experience level of 100 EP required by the master grades. With a low overall aggregate PR of 4.23 he was awarded a Master (Class 1) title, narrowly missing the Grandmaster (Class 3) title which is certainly within his grasp with any future application extensions.
Three of the new players, Neil Kazaross, David Presser and Kit Woolsey achieved excellent performances, indicative of future Grandmaster titles. Neil’s average of 2.77 over 5 matches was the best PR-result of the tournament amidst exceptionally talented competition.
More detailed information and downloadable match files may be found on the News/Events, Player Statistics and Resources pages of the BMAB website : http://bgmastersab.com/index.html
Congratulations to the competitors and the organisers for providing such a bonanza of high grade backgammon!
