I will let Chris Yep or Mochy answe the more technical details, but my vision of this revision is that we can start out with less time in the bank to begin with but if we get into very long games the time increases 3 seconds. That way we still have to move fairly quickly on individual moves but we don't find ourselves playing speed gammon if it is a long game.

Again this is for money games and I am not sure at all how to use this added time in matches in a way that still ensures a match will not take longer than a specified period of time as would be required to keep a tournament moving.
