Fair enough, there are a few exceptions. But this quibble doesn't apply to any of the contact positions that are actually discussed in the books.

The main point is that PMG's question tacitly assumes that we are capable of finding EVERY mistake in the books in question. And we don't. Moreover, it's important to understand that we don't. It's also important to understand that improving one's backgammon game doesn't require such a capability.

Stick complained about my term "game-theoretic equilibrium." That refers to the strategy that the bots are trying to approximate. It's sometimes erroneously referred to as the "right" play or the "correct" play or misleadingly referred to as "perfect play."
