I don't have any examples at hand, but one class of positions where search interval is often critical is in the containment game following a late hit. In general, the sorts of positions where a bot can have trouble benefit from using a larger search interval. Troublesome backgames, therefore, are another category.

Perhaps someone else will have an example.
