What are you thinking in this position?

1. Bring home all the checkers I can on this turn. I’m not trying to save a 6.
2. Slot the ace point, with an eye towards hitting a second checker if I can ever hit the first. That also is a checker that can be borne off with an ace if necessary.
3. Diversify any remaining inside spares. Do not cover the ace point.
4. If I cannot hit next turn, but I can run, I’m running. That is true no matter how many checkers my opponent bears off next turn.
