2. Truncate matches that go longer than a preset time. Use a match equity table to determine the fraction of a win each player gets for the truncated match. This prevents long matches from holding up the tournament.
Wouldn't just playing with clocks be better. This idea seems really bad. Super slow playing if one was ahead and time was running close. It reminds me of a baseball game in Argentina... it was known that the stadium lights did not work...
at the end of 8 innings the home team was ahead.. in the top of the ninth.. the visiting team scored a quick run to tie and threatened to go ahead.. the home team began to stall.. legally changing a pitcher.. slowing pitching around multiple players.. it was getting to dark to play at all.. the game would be called and reverted to the score after 8 innings.....
It was a different situation that the match equity thing but still the same principle could intervine.
