Just to clarify, I was referring about Carl Lewis. He had a few positive tests for stimulants at the '88 Olympic Trials, something that was revealed years later. Carl claimed he took them accidentally - you could get them from cough medicines - and the US authority accepted this. The levels nowadays would be legal. The evidence is that he was a good guy (if lacking in humility!).

Lance, however, was unequivocally a cheat. (Of course, it may be that most elite cyclists were cheating at that time.)
