In Response To: Thought Process (Stick)

I've come to the realization that in order to take my game to the next level, this is something that I'm going to need to practice and get good at. I guess my real question is about how I should be focusing my time. Is this all about reference positions, and making educated guesses based on them...or do players like you and John look at a position like this and come up with a gammon estimate based the shots, race, some formula, etc.?
