Chiva -- your philosophy would also appear to accept intentional cheating as part of the game. Why not? After all, it's a tough world, and people cheat in every field, so it's all a big cesspool and you better learn to swim. If you're that cynical, I don't wonder ethical questions bore you.

A lot of people, though, want to swim in a cleaner pond, and want to enjoy the money aspect of backgammon without becoming a degenerate gambler and sociopath. That's why questions get asked and discussed - to help clarify appropriate, honorable behavior in an enjoyable pastime that can attract more than its share of scumbags -- especially when 'gaming' your opponent becomes acceptable as "just part of the game."
