that's a great post Captian Mike, thank you very much.

I still stick to my move 8/4*(2) 7/3(2). Because(I dont have the skills to put forth a better proposal) my reasoning is this and its weak(i'm doing my best):

I had a Very similar position on XG last week and I made a blunder very similar to this, I'm smart enough to realize it was most likely a variant, however the 4's coming in was the correct play. I haven't pulled it up to look at-i don't know if that's fair given the rules here.

I considered the play and got scared and made the blunder.

I'll try and find it,
