Every chouette is different, but if you play in a chouette without written, established rules, YOU WILL HAVE CONFLICTS about many things.
With the help of Jake, some 25 years ago, after much bickering and fighting, Jake and I wrote up a set of rules for our Chicago chou so that we could settle most arguments. Over the years we have added to and changed the rules (we added extras, rotation, settlement rules, and use of the baffle box) but we rarely disagree on the rules about anything anymore...and we are talking about people who disagree for a living!
I will email you a set of our rules (and anyone else who wants a set) and you can revise them as you see fit for your own chouette. But not having a written set, even if they contain some rules you don't like (I don't like all our rules but I am not he boss of our chouette) is better than no rules.
