three sides to every story/important clarifications

I really didn't make one point clearly enough. Jason is proud of himself for going to the director. That is just one more reason to suspect his actions!
If someone resigns the match and I accept, thinking that the match was over, and then I discovered later that it was a mistake and the match was not over, I don't go to the director to get a ruling, hope he will tell me the match is over. I go to the guy I played and tell him "we" made a mistake and "we" need to finish the match.
Why would I do this instead of going to the director?
1. Because I know the rules, and I know the match is not over. Why should I ask the director for a ruling when I know what is right?
2. Even if I am not sure of the rules, I would not want to win that way. I would never want anyone to think I took a shot at another player and took a win I didn't deserve. I would want that match to be finished and win fairly with no question about my integrity.
3. What if Steen had made a wrong ruling and told Jason that he had, indeed, won the match? How would Jason feel about that. You can't win going to the director if you are hoping to get an unfair ruling.
So what I didn't say in my previous post that the one thing Jason is most proud of, going to the director instead of going to Victor and asking him to continue the match, is just another thing to suggest that he might have been trying to get a win he didn't fully deserve.
And a second clarification. I feel very uncomfortable saying too many nice things about Carter publicly. I will try not to let it happen very often.
