To me we are forced to play 24/23 or we will often run out of time to escape. Then it is about reducing shots and 16/10x now leaves 14 shots whereas 24/17 leaves 19 shots. We can be G's whether 2 or more checkers are closed out so number of blots while it surely matters, isn't the overriding factor for me.

Issues with hopping 24/17 are that we haven't won when missed. But of course we haven't yet won when missed after hitting.

By playing 24/23 16/10x we trade some G losses for some G wins and I strongly think we gain more games won. We may not need to roll a 6 since if we can keep our opp on the bar against a 5 pt board soon, we may be able to recube even AtS.
