Great problem, John! First off, this is an (rare) example of the classic Cube Provocation Play of the major kind -- where the correct play leads to a correct cube turn, whereas the incorrect play leads to a (correct) ND.

The subtleties of this problem are so pronounced that it's hard to believe even the cream of the crop players would have figured all this out, unless they had (unlikely?) studied similar situations.

FWIW, I thought the QF play was going to be 16/11, 16/10. :)
