Here's a thought-experiment (which doesn't answer your question, but I think it illustrates an important point):

Assume you had the power to observe (over history) all matches ever played in weekend US tournaments, and you counted the number of games played in just 5-point matches. How do the results from following compare?

1) novice/beginner event,

2) Intermediate/Advanced Last Chance,

3) Open/Championship Last Chance.

4) Microblitz qualifiers.

5) Microblitz playoffs.

Ok, now go have a bot (e.g. GNU-bg) with your choice of settings, play a gazillion 5-point matches (after you modify the code to run repeated trials and tally the quantity you want). Grab those values. Next go to servers, like FIBS, GridGammon, MSN-zone (or whatever it's now called if it still exists) and compile statistics from their 5-point matches. If you have the energy (ha, with the superpowers already assumed this is irrelevant) break those down into groups by site Elo ratings.

How much do you care about the spread of values the above experiments give you?
