you are correct, however some games lend them self's to gambling better than others.
Intellectual games don't need gambling to stimulate participants intellect as they are the stimulation by definition: they are intellectual.
nonintellectual games like roulette which is perhaps the least intellectual game that comes to mind right now MUST have a gambling component to even exist
Backgammon falls somewhere in the middle and therefore can be good with or without action.
I didn't do well in math, I excelled in philosophy.
