The resurgance of backgammon

Adam, it wasn't seedy back then, it was glamorous. Of course "Glamor" often covered up seedy, as indicated by Wilson Mizner's famous quip about Miami Beach being a "sunny place for shady people."
But poker today is still sleazier than backgammon in the 70's, and poker in the 70's was strictly for bottom feeders, about one step up from human trafficking.
Pattaya, of course, is Pattaya, where the chouettes take place literally surrounded by human trafficking. That people there manage to spend time playing backgammon is proof of the game's appeal to mankind's better instincts. ;-)
