We must consider that the playing 24/21 is clearly better than the minor split vs an opening 51 split. How does our the fact that we made our bar pt with 61 and our opps made their 5 pt change things? Of course we are worse off here than after an opening 51S.
If we play 13/11 this builder is less useful than after 51S since it cannot be used to make our bar pt and since our 8 pt is stripped making it costly to make our 5 pt. This is balanced slightly by the fact that our opps can't hit us with 54 now but overall I think there's clearly no net gain from 13/11 here as compared to 51S.
If we play 23/21 in constrast to 51S we have no option next turn to make their 5 pt, but we also have no option with 43 if we stay back on the 23 pt so this seems to be somewhat of a push except for the fact that we are often hit on the 21 pt and not going to be able to make the 5 pt anyhow after 51S. So this is a slight gain in comparison for playing U.
However, 24/21 often gets us attacked on the pt they want to next make, but is also slots the point we want to make! Still they get to strike first so this would seem to be at least a slight loss in comparison to 51S. However, we may also get attacked here inside their board if we just stay back.
In conclusion, I think that we are slightly worse off with playing 21U after 51S-61P-31P than after 51P. If the U vs S situation was very close after 51S I'd slightly prefer to play S here, but that isn't the case so here as I recall the commonly played 21S after 51S is a small error (worse than -.02) compared to the correct 21U. So here I slightly prefer 21U.
