Automated position tagging (Backgammon Studio)

It turns out that the unable to login problem is caused by a safari cookie setting. If I changed the Preferences/Privacy block cookies to 'never' I could login just fine. If it is set to 'From third parties and advertisers' (possibly the default option) then I can't login. Strange.
