Of course I could modify the exported HTML manually by removing/adding what I want, but that's too arduous and troublesome to do.

I'm not sure there is an easy solution that meets your needs. The only thing that occurs to me is to write a program that reads the HTML output, and strips out the moves that trail the top play by more than a certain amount. This would be moderately easy for a programmer to do, but nearly impossible for regular folks.
