I was stumped

I am very interested in the reason Mr Rockwell a player of some ilk has for posting this position. Did he really get it wrong over the table and wants to don the sackcloth. Roll odds are the glue that hold the game of backgammon together. Having the ability to count roll odds can be the answer too many problems. I could leave this problem at this point, but will go through the motions for the benefit of nonbelievers.
Calculatingly the play 18/10, this gives direct hits from the five six and nine points for a total of 33 hits less 6 duplicated rolls = 27 plus intermediate rolls 23 22 lets not forget 63 from the 1 point for a grand total of 27+5=32 hits. That leaves only for 4 misses , oh dear . This part of the calculation is done in seconds if you are into counting rolls, its basic stuff you know it off the top of your head like your tables.
Okay so now let's count the hits for 18/13 4/1*not forgetting the blot on the 13 point.. This is the tough bit I have to use my hands lol. I use my left hand for standard rolls and my right hand for doubles. I kick-off with 66 65 64 63 62 61.and count the misses. 66 65 63 62 all miss for 7 misses . The writing is on the wall but let's do the fives. 55 53 52 all miss a total of 12 misses. No point in going any further the decision is obvious. The hit on the one point was always going to be an option for me not because the unlikely usually is the answer to such posts but because I was immediately aware that the run blot was going to be under some very heavy cosh.
Recently there is a lot of talk about getting more people into backgammon. I wonder what impression new visitors take away from this site. It must appear a highly technical game. The truth can be different one does not have to be a savant to master the game. More wins more joy just by using the basics.
That's enough deep thought my parrot wants some quality time. I should not have him, he should not be in a cage, but he is alive. With his threatening big beak he is training me in communication. It's usually about choice of food , but not always. It pays to be a quick learner.
