Absolutely right...just like calling a bluff in poker, except you raise if you think he's bluffing. I am sure it can happen.

However, you need to play the game and sit at the table and have a reasonable amount of money being bet to make it matter and then see how often you might even think about a beaver. It's just not an issue. A beaver is rare enough in a normal backgammon game...in fact it should virtually never happen with good players...but when you opponent knows the roll and you don't, a beaver is pretty much nuts.
