In Response To: Public match archive (Backgammon Studio) (Stick)

No big deal as long as I am careful to add the extra information if it is missing when I download an xg match.

In my hurry to play a backgammon tournament (I won) I forgot to mention a couple of issues:

Are there any copyright issues I should be worried about when hosting XG matches? I'd like to think that matches made publicly available on the internet are put in the public domain for the enjoyment of the backgammon community and doesn't have any strict copyright.

I guess the biggest exception is annotated matches which would require the permission of the one who created it. I couldn't find any online anyway so this isn't a big problem for now. I created a test from a match I had played earlier and commented on my own errors (works fine now).

I am a big fan of completeness so if you like what I am doing and see that I am missing a few matches and would like to help me complete the match collection please send me those that I am missing and I'll update the match archive.

Currently I have been able to dig up:

2015 - 277 matches
2014 - 301 matches
2013 - 217 matches
2012 - 123 matches
2011 - 180 matches
2010 - 13 matches

1111 in total... but when importing my server rejected a few of them as duplicates so the total ended up at 1102. Sounds like a lot but I am sure there are many more out there! I'll eventually start digging further back in time for more matches.

I also saw another headline the other day about difficult double 4 so I added an option to select a specific throw when finding match errors. Unsure how to play double 6 in the opening? The server found 6 positions where a -0.200 error was with this throw: https://flic.kr/p/tLcA7a so easier said than done in some situations.

Earlier I was asked to add support for finding third roll problems (in line with one of Mochys quiz) but it turned out I already have support for this. Enter a value in the 'Move number' and some error threshold (say -0.100) to get the number of positions down and there you are: https://flic.kr/p/ttG3fm I guess this means I should make some effort in improving the help pages but I am having too much fun adding new features for doing that now! :-)
