Not a test nor a lesson, just an exercise

When I send out positions for the chouette, or make them available, it is not my intent to try to teach backgammon or offer what I think would be an excellent test of skill. I am merely sharing positions that happened to cause problems or controversy in a chouette that is comprised of mostly Open players.
No question that as a quiz, even those of us in the chouette would get more of them right as we are not swayed by the opinions of others, time constraints, money, noise, a pretty girl walking by, keeping the box or playing the opponent, or all the other things that happen in live play.
And I am not trying to "give a lesson," as the work it would take to properly analyze and discuss so many plays is not something I am willing to do, nor do I think it would be a very good lesson when you look at a bunch of random positions.
It is simply sharing some of the fun and interesting positions that happened to come up in our chou, and yes, seeing how you do might be fun for you too, as often these are not simple positions for several open players to disagree and be willing to bet on many of these plays. Yes, some you might find difficult I might find simple, and visa versa.
My point is to look at these only for what they are....random examples of positions some of us might find difficult, and looking at them to see how you would do might be fun and also, if you are willing to take the time to get your hands dirty to find out where you went wrong, you might also learn something.
Generally I do not share these with the world...usually only my private mailing list....but once in a while I figure why not? Maybe I will get some feedback that will help me learn, and often I do. And I thought maybe some people on this forum would enjoy seeing them.
People all over the world occasionally send me positions they found interesting, and many of my students (I have had over 300 by the way) send me positions they get wrong where they need help understanding them. I enjoy getting these and discussing these and I learn from them while I teach. Sometimes I have real difficulty or don't have a lot of confidence in my analysis, and I am fortunate to have some great players on my "team" to help...traditionally Perry, Stick, John O, and Rockwell, and now Michy, Presser, Tobias, Dennis Culpepper, Fernando Neumark, Jan Cerny, and Cuneyt Argun.
Bottom line, if you look at my positions from the chouette or matches and you enjoy them, great. If you are looking for a lesson, specific examples, great reference positions, or something other than what is intended, then you don't have to look at my power points or videos.
