Should players already “in the money” still be eligible for the consolation flights?

Obviously that WAS possible in old day tournaments.

"The Backgammon Book" by John Crawford and Oswald Jacoby contains a rather detailed description of the 1970 tournament on the Bahamas, where at least in theory participants could win more than one prize:

All the players except the finalists of the main flight, the 1st and 2nd consolations were eligible for the Last Chance event, even if they were already in the money, which was the case for the losers of the quarterfinals of the main flight and the losers of the semifinals of the main, the 1st and 2nd consolation.

However, the consolation flights and the last chance were NOT progressive.
