There is no doubt that this is Tiger's worst year on tour, but he's far from the worst player out there. The 85 he shot at the Memorial was bad, but I think he finished double, double, quad and he was well out of contention before the round even started. I'd give him tremendous credit for finishing. Lots of players would have WDed.

Off years are really not that uncommon on tour. Lee Westwoood was basically out of the game before coming back to be no 1 in the world. Steve Stricker lost his game and got it back twice in four years. Henrik Stenssen ran away with the Players Championship and 2 years later was outside the top 250. He came back dominate, winning the Fed Ex Cup a couple years ago. Sergio Garcia and Adam Scott both had bad breakups that sent them into a tailspin before both coming back strong. None of these guys have anywhere close to the kind of golf game Woods has.

But here's the thing people forget when they say Woods will never win another major and yada yada: As a 14-time major winner, he is exempt in every major he chooses to play in for as long as he wants to play in them. Nicklaus won three after 35 when he was playing part-time. Watson almost won the British Open at 60 years old. Tiger has a minimum of 15 tour wins and at least 2 more majors as long as he's physically able to play the game. He will be back.
