I played out your side of the game 20 times. I don't think you can use the argument that the difficulty of your side enables him to take more freely. Thirteen games I played a 0 PR, two games under a 1 PR, three games under a 2 PR, and two games at a 3 PR. As long as you know what you're doing immediately with the 8pt, how to figure out which resulting position generally gives you less bad rolls next turn, and how to bear off against that anchor in general problems will be few and far between.
