Nice play, although not nice looking. 5/4(3) looks right to me at all scores where gammons against us count. We just cannot afford the additional blots, and 5/4(3) is less ugly than 5/4*/2. 5/4(3) puts White up on the bar against a three point board, and retains 4 blocking points, so we are not yet playing a holding game with a huge race deficit.
