Z and U are not possible, so I think it's between D and S. With the PF's homeboard point D becomes more risky, so I'll opt for S.
Another reason for splitting is this: Playing two down is an attempt to build a prime. That move indicates that your choice of game plan to prime. But your opponent has a head start. He is also playing a priming game, and he has already made a good point. At this stage, you don't have to choose a game plan where you are behind.
Splitting is an attempt to grab an advanced anchor or to run. If either is successful, you will have partially defanged your opponent's priming plan. You will be choosing for your game plan a holding game or a running game. Those are game plans where you are not behind!
