I can't believe nobody else felt like tackling this though I imagine for almost all of the non Americans they couldn't care less about the NBA. (I really don't care either. I was subjected to it living in Ohio with an Ohio team in the playoffs) How valuable was Iguodala? As you said, with him in the starting line up his team went 3-0. Without him starting they were 1-2. Did Lebron score a bunch of points? Sure...at ~38% shooting percentage with Iguodala on him. (I think ~44% otherwise) If I toss the ball towards the basket enough I'll rack up some points too.

Iguodala was so valuable they won. Lebron was so invaluable his team wasn't even in it the last couple games.

You can't bring up the precedent being set when West won in '69 while playing for the losing team because that was the first year they gave out the award. They didn't even know what they were doing yet.
