i realize this is old-here. But holds true and is noteworthy so nobody goes off-track.

bit your logic is correct. Seeding is great for the "seeded". the minority. IMO from seeing it in the past(I'll spare the pool comparison today) the number of entrants goes down and only the "seeded" are a happy minority.

That's counter productive to growth and only keeps a small % of players happy that are gonna show up anyways.
