Playing 7/1 after the 21/18* hit seems right when gammons count. At DMP, 7/1 leaves you with your ace point made and 3 checkers on your 3 point--just too many checkers deep in your home board when you are 70 pips down in the race. The next problem is that all these 3s don't fit together well. 21/18*/9 seems to be the most natural looking non7/1 play, but that play leaves 25 shots. I'm going with 21/18*/12 8/5. Only 22 shots. If we get hit, we still have the backgame as a backup game plan.
