We also don't want a spare on the 3-point. So the play you (and I) picked also has an unwanted consequence -- a true "least of evils" problem which is common in BG (as we all know).

I like thinking about similar rolls and how we would handle them. How about 51? Same number of pips and one candidate (13/7) in common. But with this roll, 7/2, 7/6 is way more palatable, slotting the next point in line and putting the remaining spare in its optimal spot.

Does thinking about alternative rolls help solve the problem at hand? Not at all sure about that but these online matches provide the opportunity to test the theory.
