I omitted another option in my original post.

One can select on onscreen keyboard and turn on the NumLock on it. This is done by Hold down the Windows Key & U Key and then selecting the Virtual keyboard. The Keyboard stays on top of any an program. You can simply position the keyboard to where you are comfortable and start inputting. The benefit of this is that you only need one hand do do all the Transcription, the hand that is controlling the mouse. But it can turn out to strain that hand.
