I vote for later. If you pay now and don't get hit, are you close to gin? Clearly no since you still have to come home vs. a 3-pt game. Is White's position getting stronger or might he be forced to weaken it in some way? It's already pretty strong but it is getting stronger since he will very likely cover the 3-pt on his next shake. OTOH if we pay later, White has to concede something if he rolls a high set. If we play D from the mid, 5 of W's 13 hits also cover. If we pay later, will we be out of flexibility? Not totally IMO. On balance later looks better. 7/1 9/4.
