I thought it was very clear to pay now. If we are hit, we have a lot of returns (even after hit and cover unless we get hit with 55); if we wait and then need to leave a blot, board strengths will be equalized, qualitatively our board would be worse, we'd have much less returns, and we'd be much more likely to leave repeaters.

We will get hit more often after paying now, but the difference is not huge I assume (let me check that in GNU), and the hits occur when they are less unfavorable to us.
