About Time...

50 is not a good approximation of the mean moves in cubeful games. The 20.9 turns/41.8 moves (whatever is the phraseology) quoted in one of the links you provided on the UKBGF forum is about right.
I have played thousands of cubeful money games on the clock, against several opponents, and it averages out around low 20's each. Figures that come to my mind were 19-20 for one player, 21.5, 22 against other players. Is it much different for money or a LONG match? Probably not.
In a long series of 7 point matches played by Chuck Bower they had an average of 39.0 moves, ie 19.5 turns. If you're not aware of this study, it will be of interest:

Moves per match is most relevant, of course and, as Tom observes, the slowest match per round is the one that counts!
With respect to delay settings, the proportional utilisation of the longer delays will clearly be less. (Chuck and his opponent averaged 9.69 sec, or 80.75%, with their 12 sec delay.) For example, I found that I used up only an extra 14.88 seconds of reserve time per (money) game with the 12 rather than 15 sec delay, or just 0.75 sec per move: Most players hit the clock and get on with it. HOWEVER, again the worst case scenarios in a tournament are what count, where one or two players routinely use (abuse?) up nearly all of a longer delay with frequently pointless checking. This, sadly, is a significant argument against a longer delay setting (in all rounds before the final, at least).
