After making our bar point with the 6, there are three ways we might play the 2:

  • Z = 24/22, 13/7
  • D = 13/11, 13/7
  • O = 13/7, 8/6
The last one, O, stacks a fourth checker on the 6pt, but is the safest of the three. Remaking the 8pt would be good for us, so I don't think we have to lift that blot just yet.

D puts moves our last midpoint spare to the 11pt, but does not bring it into the zone. If we were willing to break the midpoint in order to remake the 8pt, then D would maximize our chances of covering on the 8pt.

In spite of the ten checkers the Dillies have in the zone, Z is the play I like best. After making our bar point, our offensive checkers are placed pretty much where we want them. Neither 13/11 nor 8/6 is an improvement. It's time to work on our back checkers. Splitting will be easier now than later. The Dillies could roll an ace, for instance, and play 6/5. If the Dillies attack our split, hopefully our strong board will protect us.

Z (Reverse split) = 24/22, 13/7

Nactation: In the Reverse Split family, the smaller die is used to move to a destination on the far side of the board, while the larger die is played down, i.e., to a destination in the outer board.
