Although I hesitate to call the hit 'automatic', it sure seems like you'd be cutting opp a break by not doing so, even though you can cover your homeboard blot. So start with:

15/9*

Now only three candidate aces make any sense at all. 22/21, 21/20, and 7/6. The action is likely to be on Blue's side of the board for the near term. 13/7 and 9/7 may be good future candidates (particularly if the blot on the acepoint gets hit) so I'm not lifting 7/6. That leaves the back checkers to absorb the minutiae.

21/20 is obviously the most flexible and it keeps one checker back slightly farther in case opp wants to try and play behind us in his homeboard. But 22/21 takes all concern away from opp's lucky rolls, leaving us to concentrate on the homeside. I think that takes precedence.

15/9*, 22/21
