Why I didn't cash in Monte Carlo

I suspect that the main reason you didn't cash is that the only way to cash against such high levels of play is to attend a lot of tournaments. This is great if you are well heeled or can find a way to get paid to attend but limits the number of full time players. I can imagine that paying a mortgage or supporting a family is fairly straining to anyone playing as more than an amateur.
This game desperately needs some financial sponsorship and advertising revenue. Whiskey and cigars... Someone needs to contact Glasgow and Havana.
There needs to be money added to the purses rather than taken out and it needs to be profitable at the open level for top players and organizers in order to make it happen.
The regional level play seems to be coming up in quite a few countries but the professional level of play needs a bit more glamour. The reality of tshirts and bingo halls at open levels isn't good for the game.
Everyone is a bum in the pool hall but when you compete in a snooker tournament you dress appropriately..... Etc. ... or not maybe the market is online gaming that has become a well funded sport(?) and Tshirts and surf wear are the way to go....
Wish I was there. I have watched more excellent backgammon on the streams this week than I should have.
